Road Trip: Avondale Loop

Our second inspired Summer Glamping Road Trips Series takes you around New Minas Basin where the tides rush in and rush out and you’ll visit lighthouse speckled shorelines, vineyards and take a walk on the ocean floor if your timing is right!

Burntcoat Head (Improperly known as Burncoat) is an unincorporated ruralCanadian community in Hants CountyNova Scotia and is known internationally as the site where it was officially recorded that the Bay of Fundy, and specifically Burntcoat, has the highest tides in the world.

If you’re glamping from Scotia Pines Campgrounds, there’s plenty to do and see from this centrally located, family operated campground. Victoria Park in Truro is a natural woodland park of roughly 3,000 acres with extensive trails and home to Jacob’s Ladder.  Tidal Bore Rafting adventures on the Shubenacadie are nearby and lead you towards Bay of Fundy and the highest recordes tides in the world!

Vineyard Tour at Avondale Sky Winery:

Gentle southern slopes nurture acres of vines against the backdrop of an ever changing tidal landscape, rolling hills, and the panoramic Avondale sky.

Visit them for a unique wine experience in their retail shop, a restored 180-year-old former church that was transported 40 kilometers over the highest tides in the world.
