“This is about trying to keep that joie de vivre alive,” said East Coast Glamping founder Cyndi Sweeney.

Sweeney founded the business in 2014 with her husband after going on many glamping expeditions of their own.

“We love to travel, but you don’t have to go very far away to find beautiful.”

Merging a love of outdoors with the comforts of home, this growing small business is taking glamorous camping to a new level. They’re also a textbook example of five principles that many would agree are key to small business success.

First, solve a problem you understand.

“When we moved here my husband really wanted to do the Canadian camping thing, and I was excited to get back to it after doing it a fair bit as a child,” said Sweeney.

“We packed up the dog and our three children and it was absolutely horrible. I didn’t stop working and it was one chore after another. But I love camping and I love waking up and listening to nature, so I set out to try and do it better.”
